Main Research Interests:

• Computational lexicography: mono- and bilingual lexical databases and text corpora, lexical knowledge bases
• Multilingual Information Access: cross-language information retrieval systems
• Digital Libraries: multilingual interfaces

Activities

• A Coordinator of the DELOS Working Group, funded by the European Commission to promote research into the further development of digital library technologies. Within the DELOS framework:
  • member of the EU-NSF Multilingual Information Access Working Group
  • member of the ERCIM Technical Reference Digital Library (ETRDL) Project
• Active in the organisation of the Cross-Language Information Retrieval (CLIR) Track of the TREC Conferences.
• Participates in the following projects of the European Commission Language Engineering programme:
  • EuroWordNet: multilingual semantic database
  • Eurosearch: a federation of European search engines
• Member of the Ercim News Editorial Board.
