An exclusive and central Residence in Rome. It is the result of the restoration
performed in 1978 of an imposing and quiet baroque convent located in
the most ancient and appealing heart of the city. You will be welcomed
in an environment where the classical elegance of paintings and Flemish
tapestries has been stylishly combined with a remarkable collection of
contemporary art.
Symposium sessions will be held in the main auditorium which is a nice
and imposing former Church of the Convent decorated with frescoes. The
meeting site is located within walking distance of restaurants, shopping
areas, and hotels.
The registration desk will be open at the venue site on Sunday, July 21st, from
18.30 to 20.00 hrs, and then every day until the Symposium is over.
Staff will be available at the registration desk throughout the Symposium
in the meeting site.

Transportation
Rome is served by an international airport with regular daily flights
via domestic and international airlines. There is a regular train service
between the airport and the main railway station "Roma Termini".
The Taxi service from the airport to the hotel area is approximately 70
to 100 Euro one way.
Car rental companies are located in the airport arrivals area.

The Congress hotels are within comfortable walking distance of one another.
There is no need to bring a car to this event unless you have additional
plans which require independent transportation.

Registration
Please register by July 16th, 2002.
Registration after this date will be accepted on-site only.
Student registration fees require a valid student ID to be shown at
the conference.
ACM/SIG members registration fees are available to members of ACM, SIGSOFT.
If you are not currently a member of SIGSOFT, you may consider joining, getting
your membership number

and then registering,
to get the discounted fees.
SIGSOFT member students interested in partecipation are incouraged to apply
for funding through the ACM SIGSOFT CAPS Program

Cancellations
Confirmed registrants who cannot attend and who do not send a substitute, are
entitled to a refund of paid fees (less 75 Euro processing charge) if a request
is received in writing on or before June 22, 2002. Registrants are liable for
their full fees after that date. Refunds will be made within four weeks of the
end of the Symposium.

Confirmation of registration and accommodation
Acknowledgments confirming registration in the Symposium sessions, accompanying
person programs, etc., will be sent to participants on receipt of the
remittance for registration received prior to July 16th.

The official currency in Italy is the Euro (EUROconversion).

Banks and Exchange
Banks are open from Monday to Friday, from 8.30 to 13.30 and one hour in the
afternoon round 15.00. Money can also be changed at the airport, in exchange
desks located across the city and at the main railway station (Termini) also
on Saturdays and Sundays. Most hotels, restaurants and shops accept foreign
currency and major credit cards.

Electricity
The electricity supply is 220 volts, 50 Hz. Foreign appliances may require an adapter.

Prices include service in bars and restaurants, but tips are always
welcome.

Visas
Visas are not required for visitors from most of Europe, the US, Japan
and
South America. For other countries, visas are issued on a reciprocal
basis. However, it is advisable to contact the Italian Embassy or Consulate.
On
request formal letter of invitation can be issued by the organizing
secretariat.
